Daily drivers: Great watches for under 2,000 EUR

Doxa Sub 750T LE

Doxa has a long history of making great divers. Founded in 1889, they added their first diver with unidirectional bezel and integrated no-decompression limit table to the collection in mid 1960s.

This Doxa Sub 750T is waterproof up to 750 meters – although hardly anyone will ever go that deep below sea-level. It largely resembles the original 300T diver from the 60s, with improvements having been made over time. It comes with a steel ‘bead of rice’ bracelet with solid links. Although it’s not the smallest watch with its 45mm case, it makes for a great watch with great heritage and an appealing design that has proven to withstand time.

Enthusiast’s corner: Rare or exceptional timepieces

Greubel Forsey Invention Piece 3

Greubel Forsey is a young watch company based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It was launched in 2004 by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey and specializes in high-end timepieces only.

Their Invention Piece No. 3 features a large off-center time display with a 24-hour dial and a concentric minute display on the inside. The small seconds is located at the 5 o’clock position. At 2 o’clock, the power reserve indicator can be found and across the dial, at 8 o’clock, you will find a fast-rotating 24 seconds and 25° inclined tourbillon, which is also visible from a window on the left side of the gold case. Engraved throughout different parts of the dial are extracts of a message from the inventors describing their creation and philosophy. This watch is limited to 11 pieces.

Steal of the week: Great value for the money

Heuer Carrera CS3110 Re-Edition

We probably all know about Heuer and the Carrera history, so there is little to explain here.

During the 1990s, Tag Heuer launched a re-edition of the 1964 Heuer Carrera in great resemblance of the original watch. The Heuer CS3110 is powered by the manual-wind Lemania 1873 movement, which can also be found in certain Omega Speedmaster professional models. Although it’s fairly small at 35 mm, it’s still a great watch with an iconic look. And for those who don’t care about box and papers, the price is right.
